Pistol Course Descriptions

The Pistol Course Descriptions provide a basic overview of my standard training options. Contact me with your specific training requirements and we will develop training tailored to meet your needs.

Pistol Course training designed to meet your individual needs.

NRA Basic Pistol Course $125

The NRA Basics of Pistol Course is intended for all individuals, regardless of previous shooting experience, and is available for delivery in two ways. The instructor-led pistol course presents all materials to students in person, from beginning to end. A self-study or “eLearning module” option exists and students complete the classroom portion online, in your own timeframe, and later complete the hands-on and range portion with me. The course requires successful completion of a written test and live-fire qualification.

Course topics include: firearms safety, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, and shooting range safety. Students receive a NRA certificate of training upon successful completion of the course. The instructor led course typically lasts 9 hours and requires a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition (100 recommended)*. (link for dates and to register)

Texas License to Carry (LTC) Course $75

The License to Carry Course consists of a minimum of 4 hours of classroom instruction, a written test and proficiency demonstration (qualification) . The LTC course focuses on four areas: laws related to weapons and the use of deadly force, handgun use and safety, non-violent dispute resolution and safe gun storage. The entire course lasts approximately 5 1/2 hours and requires 50 rounds* of factory ammunition.

Most importantly, if you are a new handgun owner or have little shooting experience, I highly encourage you complete the NRA course or my Basic Pistol Course before applying for your LTC. Sign up now

Basic Pistol (BP) Course $125

Designed for the beginner or novice handgun owner, the Basic Pistol Course covers similar information to the NRA program, but in a shorter amount of time. The course focuses on handgun safety, handgun operation and the fundamentals of shooting. Students spend more time on the range than in the classroom and must complete a live-fire qualification. The course lasts 4-5 hours and requires 100 rounds* of ammunition.

–Students may request the BP Course and the LTC Course into a single (long) day of training or scheduled over two days. Contact me to schedule.

Intermediate Pistol (IP) Course $125

The Intermediate Pistol Course builds on the fundamentals of shooting with the emphasis on accuracy and distance. This course provides an introduction to other skills such as the draw, reloads, multiple target engagements and target transitions. In order to attend IP, students must previously attend one of the basic courses or have proof of prior training/shooting experience. IP lasts 4-5 hours and requires a minimum of 150 rounds* of ammunition. Contact me to schedule.

Advanced Pistol (AP) Course $150

AP continues to build on the fundamentals and improve upon the skills of the Intermediate Pistol Course. This course increases the volume of shooting, refines techniques for the draw and reload, incorporates strong/weak hand shooting and movement. In order to attend the Advanced Pistol Course, student must previously attend IP. AP also lasts 4-5 hours and requires a minimum of 200 rounds* of ammunition.

I tailor each course to the individual and adjust to meet the individual needs and skill level. Due to current ammunition shortages, round counts for BP, IP, and AP may adjust to fit student access. Please contact me to schedule or check our Events list!

* If you need to rent a handgun or purchase ammunition, please contact me to make arrangements. I have a variety of handguns available to rent.

Let’s discuss your training needs.
